Sir
Charles Sherrington (1861 - 1952)
Sherringtons work on the reflex action of the nervous
system greatly influenced modern physiology. He published
his work in 1906 in which he explained how the nerves
co-ordinate and dominate the bodies functions, he showed
the process by which the brain, spinal cord and numerous
reflex pathways control the activites of the body. Through
this reflex action the entire body adjusts to a stimulus
or the environment.
